THE ANCIENT SCROLLS

How Classic Roulette Works

Everything you need before your first spin. No hidden tricks, no fine print — just the table, the wheel, and a bit of luck.

THE BASICS

What You're Walking Into

Classic Roulette at Wandering Elk Ridge follows the European format. One wheel, 37 pockets, numbers 0 through 36. The zero is green, the rest alternate red and black. That's it. No double zero, no house tricks.

Every round starts with you placing rune tokens on the felt. You pick a chip size — 10, 50, 100, or 500 — tap the positions you like, and hit Spin when you're ready. The wheel turns one direction, the ball rolls the other, and wherever it lands decides the outcome.

You start with 1,000 points. They don't cost anything, and they're worth nothing outside the table. If you run through them, that's part of the experience. The points exist for the spin, not for a payout.

BET TYPES

Where to Place Your Runes

Position Covers Payout
Straight Up Any single number (0-36) 35 to 1
Red / Black All red or all black numbers 1 to 1
Even / Odd All even or all odd numbers 1 to 1
1-18 / 19-36 Low half or high half 1 to 1
Dozens 1st 12, 2nd 12, or 3rd 12 2 to 1
Columns A vertical column of 12 numbers 2 to 1

You can stack multiple bets on the same round. Place a straight-up on 17, a red bet, and a dozen on 1st 12 all at once. Each position pays independently, so a single spin might hit more than one of your picks.

Zero sits alone. If the ball lands on green, the only bet that wins is a straight-up on zero. Everything else loses. That green pocket is what gives the wheel its edge, and honestly it's what makes the spin interesting.

POINT SYSTEM

How Points Work

Starting Balance

You get 1,000 points the moment you sit down. There's no purchase, no sign-up fee, no credit card prompt. Just points, ready to place.

Earning More

Win a spin, your payout goes straight back into your balance. The payouts follow standard European roulette math. 35-to-1 on a straight hit, even money on the outside positions.

What They're Worth

Nothing outside Wandering Elk Ridge. Points have no monetary value, can't be traded, can't be withdrawn. We say this a lot because it matters. This is entertainment, full stop.

STEP BY STEP

Playing a Round

1

Pick Your Chip

Four sizes sit at the top of the table: 10, 50, 100, and 500. Tap one to select it. That's your active token value until you switch.

2

Place on the Felt

Tap any position on the betting grid. A chip appears. Tap the same spot again to add more. Switch chip sizes to stack different amounts. Your balance drops with each placement.

3

Spin the Wheel

Hit the green Spin button. The wheel turns, the ball flies the opposite way. Takes a few seconds for everything to settle. Once it does, the winning pocket lights up.

4

See the Result

Winning bets flash gold. Losing ones fade. The payout appears in the results panel, and your balance updates automatically. Then you go again — or don't. Up to you.

THE WHEEL

Number Layout

European roulette wheel with elven mandala design

The Wandering Elk Ridge wheel follows the European single-zero layout. Starting from zero and moving clockwise: 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26.

That specific order isn't random. It's designed so adjacent pockets alternate between red and black, high and low, even and odd. Keeps any sector of the wheel roughly balanced.

The ball spins counter to the wheel. As the ball loses momentum, it drops past the deflectors and bounces between pockets before settling. That final bounce is what makes each result feel unpredictable, even after a hundred rounds.

COLOR MAP

Red, Black, and Green

18

Red Numbers

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 30, 32, 34, 36. Eighteen total. These don't follow a simple pattern — you get used to them after a few rounds at the table.

18

Black Numbers

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 33, 35. Also eighteen. Between red and black you've covered every number except zero.

1

Zero

Just the one. Zero sits alone in green. When the ball lands there, only a straight-up bet on zero wins. All outside bets — red, black, even, odd, everything — lose.

TABLE ETIQUETTE

Playing with Respect

Wandering Elk Ridge runs on community. The table works best when everyone at it treats each other the way they'd want to be treated. A few things worth keeping in mind:

Keep It Friendly

Chat at the table is part of the fun. Trash talk isn't. We don't moderate every message, but if someone crosses a line, the community notices.

Set Your Limits

Even with fantasy points, it helps to decide how long you want to play before you sit down. Take breaks. Step away. The table will still be here when you come back.

Help New Players

If someone's clearly at their first table, a quick pointer goes a long way. We were all new once. One sentence of guidance can make somebody's evening.

PRACTICAL NOTES

Things Worth Knowing

Clearing and Rebetting

Changed your mind? Hit Clear before the spin and every token goes back to your balance. After a round, Rebet copies your previous layout — saves time if you like your positions.

Multiple Chips Per Spot

Tapping the same position twice stacks another chip. You can also switch chip size between taps to build mixed stacks. The total for each spot shows on the chip marker.

Recent Results

The strip at the bottom of the table shows the last 20 results, color-coded. Some players watch for patterns. Whether patterns actually exist in a random wheel is another question entirely.

Mobile Play

The table scrolls horizontally on smaller screens. Swipe to reach the full felt. Everything works the same — tap to bet, pinch-friendly, no separate app needed.

Ready to Spin?

You've read the scrolls. The wheel is waiting, the table is set, and there's a seat with your name on it.
